The Blind!Puck verse:
Here In The Dark (Our Two Hearts Are One) II Deborah Puckerman II Mike Chang II Mercedes Jones

Rachel watched movies, curled up in a chair and wrapped in her favorite blanket.

She watched every musical she owned, lip drawn between her teeth as she thought about Noah. Thought about the boy she’d dated once upon a time and the sketch pad she’d seen shoved under his bed. She’d peeked at it once when Sarah called for him to help her with something. Almost every page had been filled, dated in every corner. They’d spanned for two years. Sketches of his mom, sister, Finn. There were a couple of herself. One of her in mid-song, eyes shut and face full of passion. The other, a simple headshot of her smiling, Star of David around her neck.

Most of them had been of Quinn. Her smile. Her laugh. Her as a Cheerio. Her in one of her signature baby doll dresses.

Some had been of her stomach. It had confused Rachel then, back in the days where everyone but Quinn and Puck had been blissfully unaware of Beth’s true father. Now, it made sense. It had been him drawing his daughter.

She wondered if he ever saw any of the sonogram pictures.

If he ever drew pictures of Beth after she’d been born.

If it hurt that he’d never get to draw like that again.

He’d been talented. So talented.

Tears pricked at her eyes and she pushed them away, moving onto another movie. The plastic wrapping of the new DVD sat on the coffee table. Her dads had gotten it for her weeks ago, but in the drama, she’d never watched it.

This one, “Ice Castles”, wasn’t a musical. In fact, it had nothing to do with music outside of the music for the figure skating routines. She loved figure skating movies. She’d tried to skate years ago, but she’d never quite had the proper coordination. She could sing and dance on stage, but there was something about the ice and blades that always seemed to end with her on her ass.

No matter. She may have not been destined to be a star skater, but she still appreciated the fine art of the sport. Admired the grace the skaters had.

She knew the movie her dads bought was a remake of an older movie, but it was one she hadn’t heard of before they’d gotten it. She’d never even bothered to read the back of the case, so when Alexis fell and her head slammed into the ice...when she didn’t get up...

Rachel cried.

And when Alexis ended up blind from her injury, just like Noah...

Oh, God.

The tears fell down her face, but she couldn’t look away from the screen that was playing out so much like Noah’s story now. She watched as Alexis hid herself away, just like he was now, and watched as her father dragged her out, exactly like Finn kept saying he wanted to if Noah kept hiding.

She watched as Alexis learned to skate without her sight. As she learned to count the paces and...

She couldn’t believe it could be that easy, but she dove for her cell phone all the same, face still wet as she speed dialed Finn.

“Rach?”

“Finn, call the others. Have everyone get over here within the hour. I have an idea.”
