(no subject)
yeah, it's been a while. I can't believe that I haven't even posted since before nationals. Yeah, it has been a long time, and a lot has happened. I really don't want to go on and vent about nationals, but I feel as though it really is a part of my life (the pageant in general) so I guess I should at least inform whomever's silly enough to read this.
The fact that the program is a part of my life is just sickening to me. You'd think something that meant so much to you would just have to be absolutely perfect because you spend so much time on it. Since I'm really big on allegory, I guess this would be kinda like having to sit and watch your five year old son die of leukemia or something so tragic like that, something so out of your hands.
Overall, the pageant went pretty well. I crossed swords with Missy and a few other staff members a few times because I felt things weren't being done the right way (my way isn't always the perfect way or the right way, but it makes all the sense in the world to me, and you'd think that since I had more actual experience than anyone else on the staff that would mean something). But the tear down was an experience I'd rather not relive. I made a few people upset because I really just wanted to get things done quickly. I really felt like my sister made the situation worse because I'd give her something to do and she'd have issues with it. I don't know, but I would rather work with people that ask how high when I say to jump, even if they're incompetent or something than have to deal with "smart" people that have issues with something I want them to do.
Sorry, I'm going off here. Anyway, at the end of the night I had sworn to myself that I'd never do it again, but I don't know. I wish I could just let it go and fall apart so I could move on with my life, but that just doesn't seem anywhere near as easy as it sounds. I want to move on so badly, but I still feel as though I'd be throwing half my life away plus all the time my grandparents had spent on it. We'll just have to see how things pan out.
Continuing onward, I absolutely enjoyed this semester, save one of my classes. Being able to not study at all, to slack off like nobody's business and still make two A's and two B's at the end of the semester is just incredible. Granted, I don't know why I got one of those B's (I was expecting an A), but it might be because I missed a homework. stupid, stupid, stupid.
Work is still as boring as ever, but I'm going to try to get another job doing tours on campus. I think I'll really enjoy doing something like that. I'm trying to get my ducks in a row for a Fall '06 graduation, one semester (excluding summer) behind a four-year schedule, but one semester ahead of previous estimates. Either way, for a change now I'm looking forward to it. I'm still thinking about and MBA, though, and what to do with my life after college. I guess it all depends on this stupid pageant thing....
I'm obviously back in OP now, and I've had a chance to hang out with some old friends again. Every year since we graduated high school we would spend time together and stuff, but each year each of us takes more and more steps in our own directions and we've only done one real thing together so far since I've been back. I wish I could be in town after Christmas, but we're spending a week in Pensacola and I have to go back to school for work on the 2nd. Maybe I'll be able to talk the guys into going to a park or something that week.
Last night we went to Chili's and then to the Ale House over in Mandarin. I attempted some pool but played bad as usual (not as good as this time two years ago when I actually won my first game out right). Emery, Aseem, Loftis, Andrew and Matt's friend from Tally all had rounds of beer, but when Matt and Andrew went over to some of Matt's Tally friends on the other side of the room for some shots, Aseem, Emery and Matt's friend Lindsey headed over to Barnes & Noble. I actually got some cool stuff (like an origami book, but I have to say my first attempt wasn't all that great).

Not as good as Erin, but I do feel as though this list was quite lacking.
