Man, thanks to last Saturday's rain, our first game of the season got cancelled. And since Easter is this coming Sunday, we're off and that makes 2 more weeks of being a couch potato. Unless of course I make the effort to go running on hard pavement. Not what I want to be doing really. T_T But I'll do it b/c 1) it's good for me 2) I can't play good soccer unless I get in shape. Thank God for daylight savings time. I wouldn't dare go running in the dark after work by myself.
I'm trying to see what my goals are for this season. Last season I more than surpassed teh goals I wanted to work for - crossing proficiently with my left foot (at least on the ground) and scoring. Had 9 assists and scored twice, my personal best. Still most of those came against a weak team, and now that team has been revamped and taken over by girls from VCU Indoor, I have to be sharper than ever. The only thing I have really is quickness and speed and pretty good passing. So I am anxious to see if I've really reached my limit (I am 28...) or if I can do better (within reason). I miss playing pickup at Gillies with the guys. I thought about doing coed but then one of my players broke her leg thanks to a bad tackle from a guy on the opposite team. Um, no. I like my legs. Plus a broken leg would be the end of soccer for me.
Being commissioner of the league tired me out. While I enjoy helping out administering rec soccer, there were alot of headaches that just made me unhappy with the sport. Fairness in the league, officiating, recruitment. But I think it puts everything into perspective.
This post was just for me to see if I've grown. I meant to type it all out and here it is. Gives me some focus and what not.
soccer,
ew getting in shape
