who says snail mail is dead?

In the past week or two, my mailbox has been overflowing with things that make me happy (in addition to the unsolicited credit card offers and JCrew catalogs):

- a sheaf of postcards from James, mailed just before he left for a year in Japan (some are poems, some random musings, and a few actual messages for me)

- the first and second installations of "Polish Poets by Post," a postcard art project designed by my friend Elsbeth, featuring poems by Zbigniew Herbert , a poet I'd never heard of before

- a lovely, newsy letter from the same friend

- an invite to one of two weddings I'll be attending this summer

AND

- a letter from the English Department at PSU, accepting me for their graduate program in Book Publishing
