back from winter break. didn't get anything serious done, at all. saw a little of my family and highschool friends (and drank roughly one million gallons of tea with
unagotitadenada). saw considerably more of boston and
dayanna, whose family cooked vegetarian venezuelan things for new years to accomodate me! whoa with the tasty- i gained roughly one million pounds.
went drinking and dancing at this great place called the phoenix landing and we got hit on by crazy foreigners and crazier harvard kids. rode the T all over the place. went to the fine arts museum for free on a wednesday and saw
the painting that looks like it's about love even though it's about fighting.
on a similar note, saw "brokeback mountain." loved it.
finished margaret atwood's the robber bride. entertaining, but not as good as blind assassin, which in turn wasn't quite up to handmaid's tale.
carolyn brought me back lucia etxebarria's beatrix y los cuerpos celestes from barcelona, for christmas, and i'm starting on that now. wish i didn't have to share my reading time with all this homework again.
so, back to columbia, back to my apartment that smells like foreign food all day and sounds like a train station at night. my primary new years resolution is to learn to love this city, because there's a coffee roastery and a beer brewery and an indie theater and two gay clubs on my street alone, and i shouldn't be unhappy.
