1) my leopard gecko. I think I put in a good three hundred dollars in vet bills, medication, and ultimately cremating her.
2) My childhood pet, my Amy-cat. My parents probably over the 13 years of her life put in probably between 5000- 10000 dollars on vet bills, she had chronic kidney stones.
I hope Remi feels better :-( It sucks when your pets don't feel good.
We had this conversation when I was trying to decide what to do for my sick rat, Baby. I ended up not taking her to a vet because of the expense, but I felt miserable about her condition for the last months of her life.
Aside from Mia's $95 adoption fee, we've already spent $230 on vet bills and medication when she was sick.
I think my perspective has changed. I'm learning that sometimes, as long as you can afford it, it is just money. It's a tough call when it's on a small animal that you expect to be relatively expense free. But from the way you sounded on the phone before and after taking him to the vet, I would guess that relieving your guilt and worry was worth the cost.
