I'm not even going to bother locking this post. Such flailing cannot be restricted to merely my flist. But I will probably be rambling so much that hardly anyone will read it because I can promise there will be a lot of text in this post.
MOCKINGJAY
The book that stole my heart.
And mind. And broke them both a little.

I must say that I JUST LOVED THE BOOK. I thought is was just so amazing and real. I loved how Suzanne Collin writing this book. Because seriously this trilogy is one of the very few that I believe will stay for me for a very, very long time. She didn't sugar cult the series at all. She went right to business and was truly true to the purpose of the trilogy. It's not happy. Life is hard and at the end we just have to deal with was done.
I have not read books like this in a while. I seriously love how dark it was. Not many authors do that and I love Collins for that. Because she knew it had to be done.
On the issue of Gale and Peeta. I truly didn't care who Katniss would have ended up in the end. Don't get me wrong I love both characters (specially Peeta) but this story was about the journey. Her life. Both had history with her. Both loved her in their own way. All I cared was that she would end up happy in the end. In a way it did make sense how she ended up. The fact that she ended up with Peeta made perfect sense. They both went through an experience that NO ONE WOULD BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND. They both where each others rock. It didn't matter how long they new each other, because what matter is what they went through. They are connected for life by that experience and the fact that they only had each other was the only thing that matter to them. On the Gale issue. The way it ended was not what a lot of fans like but that is life. That happens. Things happen. There is really nothing no one can do. It's a war. YES, they where child hood friends. Yes, they knew each other BETTER THAN anybody. But people do grow up and apart. Anything can trigger that. In this case was the fact that Gale had design the bomb that killed Prim.
Prim. What can I say about Prim. I love her. In the end is ironic. It all began because of Prim and it all ended because of Prim. I love her character. She really grew through out the books. She was truly the voice of reason for Katniss.
Another issue that a lot of people are discussing is The Hunger Games that they where going to have for the Capitol kids and Katniss saying yes. They had to understand she lost the one person she was fighting for against the Games. Prim. That was the only thing she had left connecting her to innocence. Although she knew that her sister was wise beyond her years. She was truly the last of innocent she had left. And that was just taken away from her.
All in all. I LOVE this book. I understand all the choices Katniss made. She didn't have all the information. She was being use. She had to find a way to feel in control. I understand her and I don't blame her for anything she did. She is 17 and she grew up fast. She thought a different way than all of them and that was what I love about the book. Because it was real and I felt that exactly what she did anyone would have done to do what was right and to save her family and the people she loved.

Ahhh, I loved it too! Such a worthy read! It will stay with me, too, because it's so real, and so different. Dark, depressing, tragic, moving. SO GOOD.
I thought Katniss would end up with Gale. She just kept grasping for things in the past. I wanted her to be with Peeta, I knew she loved him regardless of her trying not to. But getting into MJ, it was just clear what would happen. It was Peeta or no one at all. Also, the way it ended with Gale... initially I was bitter, because I love him and that's not how I wanted it, but I came to the same idea, that it's just keeping up with the realistic trend Collins set with her books. That's just what would happen.
Agreed about Prim. Her death had to happen, to strike Katniss down and make her the most vulnerable and drive home the tragedy of war. I didn't want it, didn't plan it, but yes, it all started and ended with Prim.
Good perspective on that issue. Prim was the pure one, with the moral compass pointing due north, and she was no longer urging Katniss. So Katniss was just left floating. That's one issue I'm still contemplating.
TADA! So glad we're in agreement. This book was amazing.
