OOC ❦ Memory (7) - Movie theater

There was the sound of the wind blowing through the trees in the background, as well as a similar, more distant sound-but one would have to have very sharp ears indeed to pick up the sound of the sea.

Ginko and a dark-haired man, who was wearing a dark, almost colorless kimono with a monocle fixed over one eye, were sitting in what was most likely a house or room of some kind. The background was mostly in darkness, but one might catch glimpses of strange items-the skeleton of some small animal; strangely-shaped skulls; items wrapped up in sheets, impossible to identify based on just a glance.

The dark-haired man was holding a small box in one hand, and had something small and flesh-colored between the fingers of his other hand. “A mushi that devours silence? One that causes horns to grow on its living host. It’s quite rare, quite rare indeed.” He replaced the tiny object, then looked over at Ginko. “Hey. What’s that?”

Ginko smiled, twitching aside a cloth to reveal the deep green, elegantly plain wine cup that was sitting in a shallow box in front of him. “The cup of a young man whose left hand could breathe life into his art work.”

The other man smiled too, skeptically. “Oh, please. That boy’s distrust for mushishi is well known. I doubt he’d give you an audience, let alone that cup.”

Ginko’s smile eased into a smirk. “Now, now. There isn’t any obligation to buy it... Doctor Adashino. I just thought this prize would go to waste in someone else’s collection.” He picked up the cup, toying with it and letting it dangle from his fingers so it looked like he was about to drop it.

“All right,” Adashino said, reaching for it. “Come on, let me take a look.”

The cigarette held between his lips muffling his words slightly, Ginko said, “I’m willing to sell it, and at a bargain price. But only if you’ll help me.” He set the cup down again, letting the doctor take a look at it as he continued. “On my way here, I encountered something very strange. I’d like to capture it.”

Looking up from the cup, the doctor eyed him with a resigned expression. “Something strange, huh.”

Taking the cigarette out of his mouth, Ginko leveled a serious look at Adashino. “That’s right. In all your studies, have you ever heard of a liquid mushi that can travel from place to place? A living swamp…”
