The Prices Duke! The Prices!

I remember last summer when the gas companies tried to raise the gas prices to $2.50 and beyond. When the prices reached $2.80-2.90 the media went wild and the masses were ready to riot. I look around this summer and see how sleuthy the gas companies have been. A gradual inflation of prices over fall and winter and all the sudden everyone accepts the prices this summer that were outragous in the latter. I've been bothered by the prices and would complain about their rise when ever there was an oppurtunity but was sad to find out that nobody else shared my concern. Even now most people are accepting of the new gas prices. I'm about to go broke driving my car, and the prices are expected to rise even more?! I just can't believe that everyone seems to have accepted the gas prices and would rather roll over and die than do something about it.

Last year the media started using a price finder on their shows to let people know of cheap places to buy gas. At first I saw this as the news helping the public like they claim to do. In the end it seems no more beneficial to the masses than a kaleidoscope to a blind man. Their price finders have really just helped americans to accept the ridiculous inflation of prices. I remember last year people rejoiced at gas being found "Cheap" some where for $1.80. This summer we have people who rejoice at "cheap" gas running at $2.80 some where.

The gas companies have claimed that their percentages are too low and that they're actually losing income when it comes to the prices they maintain allready. I had a hard time being that seeing as when they were brought before the senate, the addressing Senators refused to put them under oath. Clearly this man was on their payroll. If they were so bad off on prices I don't think they could have afforded to put a senator on their payroll. I can see why they would want to, but this is all just a ploy to get more money out of the masses because they can. Another case of the haves and the have nots, the bourgeois and the lumpen-proletariat.
