Obama was sitting right in front of Hilary Clinton for the state of the union, allowing the camera to show both of them at once when they look particularly pissed off.
One has to be skeptical of a proceedings where a extremely offensive comment is marked by the lack of a standing ovation.
At one point the president says that it is the responsibility of the government to provide affordable health care to all, and everyone stood up preemptively. Of course, when he then said that, for adults, private corporate health care is the best (as i guess only) option, the crowd went silent (i.e. only a rousing applause rather than a standing ovation).
Then he announced that we need to reduce our foreign oil dependence by producing ten times the biodiesel. NBC then zoomed in on a representative of Iowa, smiling like an idiot and bouncing up and down. You see, we make all the corn. From corn comes agricultural waste, and from this waste comes alternative fuel. ka-ching.
