Today has been a karma rollercoaster. It started too damn early since both
joannahurley and myself have been bad and not going to sleep on time at all the past week. Alarm sucks when you haven't gotten enough sleep. Anyway - off to church and the christmas brunch.Once again
joannahurley didn't get any quiche, but she had a Cunning Plan - namely to make 3 and bring 2 :)
From church it was off to the small # of errands we had to do today before getting home and getting to work on our christmas stuff. Petsmart for algae wafers, Target for sunglasses and pencil lead (I just broke my sunglasses and ran my good pencil out of lead); then over to Sprint to get some warranty work done.
The guy behind the counter had good news and bad news - the bad news was that they didn't have any phones to give us in replacement at the store. The good nes was that they could order replacements and have them there in 3-5 days. The great news? We have Moguls, and the receipts we got for pick-up say Touch Pro. Merry Christmas! (I've been tryign to figure out how to squeeze out the price for a pair of them at 1-year contract prices, so getting them as warranty replacements is a nice little gift).
On to Trader Joes, which was only mildly mobbed. No pesto for DMIL, but they did have other yumminess, including a yule log.
The final errand was to our local deli for sandwiches for lunch. While waiting at the grill for out sandwiches, a lady comes up to me and asks "Is that you Smart car in the parking lot?" Accustomed as I am to the question I said "Yes," and prepped my mind for the usual questions. Only to be quite sidetracked by her saying "Someone just backed into it and drove off." (!!) Luckily, they had gotten the license plate and a description of the vehicle. I left Joanna to pay for the sandwiches while I inspected the damage and tried to get ahold of the local PD via non-emergency means. (This failed - no-one answers the phone on weekends. I called 911 eventually). The damage is a hand-sized section of the front right fender dished in - an honest-to-goodness fender-bender, and a hit-and-run. The cops showed up, took down our details, gave us an incident card, and wen toff to find the perpetrator. We went home and ate sandwiches.
A couple of hours later the local PD calls back saying they "located the vehicle" and will have an accident report for me Wed - so we'll see what that gets me. Tomorrow I gotta call the insurance co.
It looks like the panel could be pushed back into shape and the scratches buffed out (yay plastic panels), but if the person responsbile can be made to pay, then I'd much prefer that it be done right.
So how was your weekend?
