I just wasted an hour and a half of my life watching a teenie-bopper movie - Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure. I thought it was gonna be something like Legally Blonde, with the pink blur, blonde hair, and the cute Yorkie. Of course it was a Disney movie. What did I expect?
Today was interesting. It's day 1 of my 2 week research elective rotation, meaning I get to utilize my own time doing my own thing. I just need to read and write like crazy, but at the moment, I have no energy for it. Maybe tomorrow morning. I just need to sleep early and wake up early. I also tried to explain my research project to a friend, and he was just bewildered. Because he thought AMA meant "against medical advice", but what I really meant was "anti-mitochondrial antibody". I thought it was the most hilarious thing ever, trying to explain why I was trying to study AMA among liver disease patients, HAHAHA.
I like being all alone. Brother left yesterday for a three-week long vacation, leaving the apartment all to myself. That means forming a makeshift desk right on the couch in front of the tv, moving extra lights to my new office, and moving Hitsugi along as well.
Hitsugi, my beautiful, shiny, black Fender. I wish I could sound the harmonics better on the fifth fret, but otherwise I have absolutely no complaints about this guitar. I'm not a complete guitar noob, but this is definitely the nicest guitar I have ever owned or even played on. Thank you, dear job, for giving me a stipend to support my basic needs and my love for music.
Speaking of which, I got to see Trace Bundy playing live last weekend. He played at the MIM - musical instrument museum in north Phoenix. I was originally going to check out the museum the afternoon before the show, but I wasted an hour driving because I left my wallet at home. I'm definitely gonna check out the musem next time. Aside from being an amazingly talented individual, he was pretty personable and funny. Would love to see his show regularly if I had the chance to.
Also, he took a picture of the audience.
A ritual, according to him.
I'm in the fifth row, kinda on the left side, with the pink sweater, with an empty seat next to me, and a guy in white on the other side (my guitar afficionado friend/colleague Mark). Very nice picture. Very intimate theatre with beautiful acoustics. I need to check out more concerts here.
So inspired to keep playing guitar and practicing. I recently got a hold of sheet music and tabs of Sungha Jung's Gravity, one of my most favorite songs to listen to. It's not a crazy difficult song but because I haven't played in such a long time I definitely am having some trouble playing the entire song out, but I'm having a lot of fun being able to create music like this once again. I'm also pretty sure that after that night of listening to Trace play on stage, most guitarists in that room were probably inspired to pick up their own guitars and just jam out.
But... back to reality. For now.
Speaking of concerts,I recently found out that Gazeto is coming to the US! And I am unable to go thanks to rotations I can't undo in the coming months. I'm incredibly sad. I need to see them live one day. NEED. One day... when I stop the torture of obtaining further medical training, I shall finally make real income and save up and plan a spectacular vacation including visiting Japan and seeing Gazeto and my jrocker idols LIVE.
Ok. Back to work for reals.
