School & Life Thus Far

Sep 11, 2007 02:12

School is going alright thus far. I had my first english class tonight. I think I'm going to like the teacher. Though he certainly tooted his horn a bit in class, it was plain to see that he teaches for the love and service of teaching. He has a day job elsewhere that pays him plenty of money. Mainly, he seems to actually like teaching, and he knows his shit.

Speaking of other teachers, the teacher who teaches my Final Cut Pro (Video Editing) is a nice guy, but completely full of incorrect knowledge on video and technology in general. Oh well...I'll do the book work and take advantage of the nice computers. I'll pass the class, get it over with, and that will be that. It does make me want to get a Mac, because lately I've seen more than a couple jobs for Final Cut Pro Editors, and it would be cool if I had a Mac to maintain the skills I'm about to learn.

My math teacher is fine. It seems as though she's gotten a bad wrap around campus. Maybe I look at teachers differently though, due to the fact that my mom was a teacher for so long. I mean, I'm not going to be all buddy-buddy with my math teacher, but she knows her stuff and knows how to teach and I can respect her for that.

As I've mentioned before, my Comparative Religions teacher is pretty cool. She walks a thin line between funny and sarcastic, and keeps class interesting. She also seems to be a good teacher, and I've really only heard good things about her. She seems to be living up to the good comments.

That pretty much leaves my WebDesign/Dreamweaver (digital media) class. That class hasn't met yet, and wont be till the night of 9/26. I'm looking forward to that, mainly because it'll get me back into making websites from start to finish, instead of making the layouts and sending them to a web programmer. Granted, I'm not going to write any crazy web programs, but I'll be able once again to make nice looking sites for myself and others.

It seems that I have good luck in my academic teachers this year. I'm extremely happy about that. I wish my Final Cut Pro teacher could poor some of the techno-vomit out of his head and gain some more real life experience. Assuming those things, he'd be a pretty good teacher.

Other than school, I got offered a job at Gryphon Financial Group, where Matt works. I went to fill out paperwork for a background check today, and also went for the required drug test. Compared to most kids my age, I'm worried more about the background check than the drug test. Plain and simple, I don't do drugs and never have. Unfortunately for me, however, is that part of their background check is a credit report. While I don't have any huge blemishes, my credit still isn't that great. I think I'll do ok though.

It's nice to be busy again. It's nice to have a purpose in my life other than sitting on my ass moping for a couple weeks because I lost your job. I haven't had weeks that bad in a long time. School is really cheering me up actually, even though it's stressful in it's own little way. Everything is pointing to my success in school right now, and I aim to keep it that way!

Well, that's it for now. It's 2:30am and I need to get to bed. I have to help my mom in the morning. Lucky for me all my homework is done except for math, which I'll do during the break after my Religions class tomorrow. I would have done it tonight, but I didn't have time. I did finish my paper and my required reading for my Religion class though. Go me!
