If my friend who has 4 kids all younger than 7 can find time to blog about her life and family...I've decided I have time to keep my LJ updated.
Thanksgiving weekend went by waaay too fast. Wednesday we had free tickets to the Ducks/Hurricanes game so I became a Canes fan for a night, but unfortunately, they lost. Can't pass up free tickets 6 rows from the glass though!
Thursday we slept in and headed to my parents around noon. Dinner was supposed to be around 4, but it took my aunt Peggy over THREE hours to drive up from San Diego. By the time we finally ate around 5 everybody was starving, but the food was delicious! Trader Joe's brined turkey rock. Leigh was smart and drove up the night before. Dwight and Christy also drove down from Malibu. Justin and Naomi were in charge of bringing 'the stranger' and some girl named Meghann crashed the feast. (Hehe, way to go Dad, you had to go and invite the infamous 'Brad' over to dinner in the summer, so now whenever someone new/strange is invited to dinner, they will always be referred to as 'the stranger' - behind their back of course). We spent a long time at my parents and didn't get home until after 11.
Friday Adam wanted to pick up a few games at Game Stop. I was surprised at how dead the Town Center was. There were only a few people in the store when we got there around 10:30. So then I had to go on a quest to use my coupons. Aaron Brothers sent home a 50% off coupon, so we picked up a Marvel Comic drawing book for Kenny . Then I just HAD to use my Michael's coupon. We scored big time there and came out with a ton of Christmas stuff for under $30. I went on another quest and put out all the Christmas decorations before we met up with Paul and Kelly for dinner. I can't believe she's due in a little more than 8 weeks!
Saturday Melanie came over and we went to Toys R Us to try to get some more of the nices/nephew shopping done. We also used a ton of Bed, Bath and Beyond coupons and did some more shopping there. I'm pretty impressed, other than buying a bunch of work pants online on Thursday for 40% off and free shipping, I kept the shopping strictly to Christmas. My boss couldn't go to the Kings/Hawks game last night, so she gave us her seats. We got to enjoy the Kings shootout win over Chicago, Go Kings!
Today we did some maintenance around the house and did some grocery shopping before heading to hockey. We played one of the better teams in our league and lost, but scored 4 goals, which is a big improvement over our last game.
I'm not looking forward to a 5-day work week, but am looking forward to all that December has to offer. In addition to the holiday's, holiday closure and 9/80 Friday's, I've also got 32 hours of personal leave I need to use before December 31st, so I'm going to have fun planning when to use that.
