Acute Pain

I've really done it this time: I ruptured my right bicep, accidentally of course, last Thursday, the 7th of December which is my paternal grandmother's birthday & Pearl Harbor Day.  The orthopedic surgeon I saw Tuesday said it will require surgery.  I thought that's what he'd say.  Tomorrow I will see the doctor who most likely will perform the surgery.  Naturally I am anxious to hear what he has to say.

Here's what happened, believe it or not: While showering, my right arm got stuck behind my back because my shoulder locked.  I flung my arm around trying to dislodge it when I heard & felt a very loud pop in the front of my shoulder, then I felt a paralyzing pain from my shoulder down to my elbow.  I immediately knew I had done something to the bicep but I didn't know it was ruptured.  I felt weak all over so sat down and tried to finish showering with my left hand only.  Dressing seemed to take forever.  Then I called my internist who called back that night with names of 4 orthopedic surgeons.  Three of them would not accept my insurance plan so I was forced to go to the sports medicine doctor who could not see me til Tuesday, 5 days after the fact.  Since he does not do elbows, he referred me to a Dr. Corn for tomorrow, one week after the injury.  I'll see him in the afternoon after an early morning MRI.

I have so many questions, I can't remember them all.  I'll report his findings in the next entry.
