Photopost! Because it's been, like, forever.

It really has been forever, but I'm going to try to do one of these semi-regularly to get back into blogging again.

Okay, so, first up, what have I been knitting? Well, until recently, not much. What with the move, etc., I just haven't had time. But one thing I worked on in dribs and drabs since February was another Diagonal Block Stitch Square. I made one in purple verigate years back and loved it. This time I went for a wild rainbow verigate. A couple of weeks back, I worked out I wouldn't have enough for a big square all in that, and I couldn't find more, so I bought some black and redid it striping instead.

When I finished that, I picked up something else - a ball of Cleckheatons California 8ply, and found a feather/fan pattern called Red Sheila that knit up just beautifully. You can see how the scarf is a mirror of itself colourwise - that just happened, I can claim no credit.

What I'm doing now is a Christmas present for Monster Boy. He wanted a green horse. He's been consistent about asking for it, and none of us have any idea why. Whatever you want, bud. Little Bro is probably getting an Iron Man themed blanket, because he loves Emma's Bucky blanket and has great taste in heroes, even at just under four. Lil Sis is a baby, so she's not going to care what she gets, so long as she can put it in her mouth. Maybe I'll make another Celestine or something.

Books! Have been replacing some books from the losses, buying a few new ones to flesh out series I was already collecting, but here's what I have on the go right now.

Reading: The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets' Nest by Steig Larsson. Yes, I know everyone else read these like a decade ago, but I got given copies for absolute free and thought I'd try them out. Liking them so far. It's not my usual fare, but it's kept me engaged enough to go right through to the final book, so. I have the extended/miniseries version of the Noomi Rapace films to watch after I'm done. I'm told that's the way to go.

To Read: Goldenhand by Garth Nix. Bought this yesterday from Big W for the cheap price of $16 (elsewhere $24). I think the cover is ugly as hell, but I'm excited for the content. I reread all the rest of the Old Kingdom series earlier this year.

To Buy: The illustrated Chamber of Secrets. Was out yesterday but no stores had their stock yet. Boo.

Music!
The Black Parade/Living With Ghosts Anniversary Release. I am not joking when I say that Black Parade helped me survive this hellish year, so when news broke about this release, even though we had very little money, I wanted it. I got the original album illegally, and the plan had always been to buy it legit when we could, so this was like kismet. They kept me going - the least I could do was give them $30 to say thank you. Future purchases may include Life on the Murder Scene, The Black Parade is Dead, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge and Danger Days.

Gaming! Haven't had much time for games. I do have Diablo 3 with expansion on my laptop that I have played a bit here and there and am loving. Set up my PS2 with the aim of playing through the games I have that I haven't touched in about 6 years. I've started on Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy. The graphics look really dated on Mum's big tv, but the gameplay is just as fun as I remembered. As for things I play every day, it's pretty much Avengers Academy. Have a pic of Hulk meditating on my quad.

Gardening! I've done some bits here and there, but the main patch is a place just out the front of Mum's porch. Tomatoes, potatoes, basil, nasturtium and rocket. Shot from the porch, so it's a weird angle.

DVDs! This isn't everything I've bought (I got a bunch for a couple of bucks each from charity shops and markets stalls etc.) but here are the big purchases from the last few months.

Leverage! The series that now owns my heart. We bought a super-cheap season 4 box set, only to find the international releases didn't have any features. So we saved up and bought 1-5 from Amazon (I know, evil) and now have deleted scenes, gag reels and commentary on EVERY EPISODE. :DDD The Librarian/s is next. I found two of the films in a charity shop, and I have downloads of the third film and series.

Marvel!
X-Men - Days of Future Past: The Rogue Cut, X-Men: Apocalypse, Captain America: Civil War. I missed out on the steelbook for Civil War, which I'm sad about, but the Team Cap cover is a good alternate. Hanging out for Daredevil and Jessica Jones which both come out in December.

Writing. Really haven't been doing much - I had to drop out of Stucky Big Bang (but the communication with mods and that was super confusing and difficult anyway, so, ugh.) but I hung on to Marvel Bang and I've finished. Still waiting on a posting date, but I'm hoping for mid November, so Emma gets a whole solid month to art. Have a teaser - the title and summary.

And finally, have a selfie I don't hate. I haven't been getting out walking, not more than a couple of times, anyway, and I've been eating rubbish and have put two kilos back on (which, ugh, don't even), but those are all things I can work on. I'll need to find a gym before the heat, because I am not walking in horrible Western Sydney summer weather, but for now, I have time.
Hi. This is me. Hanging in there. How are all of you today?
