So it's the end of July, here, which for the Northern hemisphere means midsummer but for here means the opposite. We're over the hump but we've still got hard frosts and it's a long time before our average highs hit anything above about thirteen or fourteen celcius.
That said, it's good weather for prepping for spring.
Snow from the second snow day! We woke up to a white coating over everything. The kids at the school across the road made snowmen a couple of feet high. But anyway, this second photo shows pretty well the overgrown corner of the vegetable bed.
Finally finished pruning the climbing rose. Hopefully, I won't have to hack it back so intensively for a long while, yet. I'm pretty sure I hadn't cut it down to the fence like this in a good three years. Also, pruned down the red rose in time for spring.
Then, I turned my attention to the garden bed. There were still some potatoes in the ground and a few very gnarly looking parsnips, so I dug those out.
I bought a bag of compost last shop, so once I'd got all the grass and old plants out, I dug that through the end section of the garden and sprinkled the last of my soil wetter on top. This end is now ready to plant in!
