Feeling a little bit more in control of things. I've managed to get my tabs in firefox down from 110+ to around 60, so that's making me and my computer feel happier.
Taking a short hiatus from the Forest Path Stole even though it's mostly finished because of Christmas knits. I've just finished what turned out to be an enormous
Spider-man blanket for Luie.
Emma's finished off the nativity animals for the set I've been making for Brother #2's family for a few years, now. Only the wise men to go.
Right now I'm making things for the kids I hadn't planned for. Since Mum's friend moved in with her, there are two more running around, her grandchildren. So I'm making a crocheted
plane for the little boy, since he's plane mad, and making
Bloom in Bendigo Woollen Mills Luxury 10 ply Fuschia for the older girl. She's going on five, but she's tall and stocky for her age because she has Fijian heritage, so I'm doing the 'up to eight years' size and hoping she gets at least a couple of seasons wear out of it before she outgrows it. I've ordered the wool, and hopefully it'll arrive in plenty of time so that I don't have to be frantically finishing it on Christmas Day.
Last thing to make is a baby blanket in 8ply cotton for my cousin, who I only just found out is having another baby, due at Christmas. Fortunately, she won't actually be there because she'll be due at any moment by then and wanting to stay near home/hospital, so I've got some wriggle room for when it has to be completed. I'm going to do the
Curlicue Coverlet by Oat Couture, because I've loved the pattern for a long time. It's going to be blue, because that's what I have in my stash in the right quantities for a blanket. Now I just have to dig it out from the long-term storage corner. Not an expedition for the faint of heart.
Read a bunch of comics lately. Tie-ins for Black Widow and Captain America for the MCU, and the first run of Runaways. I loved Runaways. My library only has the first and third runs, though, so I've downloaded the entire collection so that I can keep going. As for actual books, I've finally started on Waking The Witch, the eleventh Otherworld novel by Kelley Armstrong, and I have Spellbound (book twelve) waiting in the wings. I don't own Thirteen, the final novel, but my library has it, so I'm going to borrow it from there when I'm ready. Next up - Shards of Time, the last (for now) Nightrunner book by Lynn Flewelling, and Foxglove Summer, the new Rivers of London book by Ben Aaronovitch which I've requested from the library. (One of the librarians is a big fan, like me, so I know they'll purchase it.)
In terms of shows, I've watched the newest seasons of Endeavour and Lewis, so I'm up to date with those. Haven't seen any new season anything else, though, apart from QI and Would I Lie To You. I've ordered Guardians of the Galaxy from JBHifi, so that'll turn up at some point. I didn't get a chance to see it at the cinema, so I'll be watching it for the first time on my own television. We don't have much money, but I wanted the steelbook. If the thumbnail on the website is right, they made it look like an old walkman, which if correct has to be one of the niftiest steelbooks I own. :)
I've been reading a bunch, because I've been closing a bunch of tabs, but I've also been indulging in rereading a bunch of Potter stuff, most lately
copperbadge's Laocoon's Children and
mad_martha's Coming Home. Reading a sequel/prequel thing to Cartographer's Craft, too, which is old but new to me, by Metallumai called
Come Write Me Down. It's rather marvellous, and highly recommended to fans of Sam's original story.
Other than that, I've been generally trying to be kind to myself, while also eating and drinking and keeping the kitchen at least in a state where I can walk to the kettle from the door without having to step over anything. I've mostly been succeeding in that.
