I knew it was only a matter of time before I saw a movie that I didn't like.
Veronica Sawyer (Winona Ryder) is an unhappy member of the 'Heathers', the most popular clique in school. Then a mysterious new guy called Jason 'J.D.' Dean (Christian Slater) arrives and sweeps Veronica off her feet. The pair poison the lead Heather and make it look like a suicide. The amount of bodies soon starts to pile up as Veronica realizes that her new beau is a total psycho.
I'm not sure how I feel about this movie. Was I supposed to be happy that the jerks got their comeuppance? There was barely a likable character in the whole movie. The students were a bunch of bitches and jocks, and the adults were just as worse. the parents hardly even care about their kids until they're dead. The hippy teacher exploits the apparent suicides for some wishy-washy bonding bullshit. I guess Winona Ryder's character becomes likable once she realizes how much of a nutcase J.D. is, but that doesn't excuse her for being a complete bitch for dumping her old nerdy friends so she can hang with the cool kids.
I was hoping that I would like the movie given that I have quite a dark sense of humour, but I just found everybody to be annoying. This one's going on the discarded pile I'm afraid.
