Action Week Extra: Invasion U.S.A.

Chuck Norris stars as former CIA agent Matt Hunter. When a multinational group of terrorists led by a face from Hunter's past invades the United States and starts causing untold destruction, the authorities are powerless to stop them. Of course the only one able to stop the bad guys is our Chuck.

What's this, a Chuck Norris film that I actually like? I know. I'm as surprised as you are. I find that most of Chuck's early films are a load of rubbish, but the films he made for the Cannon group are a load of silly fun.

It's never really revealed why the terrorists have invaded American soil. It might have been mentioned in the film, but I might have missed it among all the explodey fun. Instead of attacking military targets as you would expect, the baddies show just how evil they are by attacking civilian targets. Like a suburban neighborhood during Christmas. Or trying to bomb a buss full of children. Fortunately for the latter case, Matt Hunter is there and is able to turn the tables on the villains. Hunter also has a habit of killing the bad guys with their own bombs. In a earlier scene the terrorists try to bomb a church full of innocents, but Hunter takes the bomb and uses it on the baddies instead.

Don't believe me when I say the film is full of ridiculous action? Lust look at the climactic fight. Hunter and the lead terrorist, Rostov, duel with rocket launchers. No, really!

There is also a female reporter whose only job is to be nosy and to get herself into trouble all the time. There isn't even a sniff of romance so you could have just taken her out of the film without affecting anything.

Four pointy hats. My favourite Chuck Norris film.

Next time: Lethal Weapon 2
