Want some snow?

So we got about 2 feet of snow over the last 24 hours...I love it! As long as the power stays on and my guy comes to clear the driveway - It's just so beautiful! Coverage on tv today was ONLY snow related stuff...gets a little boring when you are looking at some idiot out in his car stuck in the snow and knowing that (a) you are not going out in that so why would I care if Joe is stuck, (b) the ones the tv stations should be talking to are unfortunately out in their cars stuck in the snow! How lovely to watch all the news people getting pummeled with snow and reporting that everyone should stay home.

I feel so sad for one of my outdoor kitties. A few weeks ago I put out two cat crates - I covered them with some old blankets and put a towel inside each one - so the cats would have somewhere to stay that was relatively warm. Until tonight they have gone untouched. However, Shorty has been hanging around 24/7 lately while Fluffy comes and goes, and he went into the crate. I know this because he cried at me several times today, and each time I brought him a little food (he never cries at all usually). He knows I'm there because usually talk to my other cats who follow me out on the porch, and he recognizes my voice. He is usally terrified, but over the last few days he has become a bit braver and doesn't run when he sees me. So tonight I went out and I said to whichever cat was there with me, "I hope Shorty is somewhere safe and dry" (because I didn't see Shorty anywhere around) and suddenly his little head popped out of the crate! At least he will be dry in there and I hope he will be ok. Cats are pretty smart and it's not so cold, so I'm sure he will be fine. Last night I offered to let both cats come up on the porch. Fluffy happily came up and wandered around, but quickly left again, but Shorty stayed outside. I don't think they want to come in, I think they just want to be loved. But then again doesn't everyone?

This is the worst storm we have had here for many years. What I will remember about it though is that people cared enough to call me and make sure I was ok since they know I'm alone. That's never happened before so to me it's memorable.

The snow has stopped finally, so now the dig out can begin. This is Winter to me and it makes me pretty happy, but of course I don't have to go out in it which makes a big difference. And what are they calling for next Monday? SNOW!

Can you see my mailbox? It's that little dot to the left of the pole...
