Oh yeah, updating is good

Another hectic day today. I wonder what it is about the Christmas season that makes everyone busy and crazy and pressed for time. Is it the fact that we must cram shopping and thinking about shopping into our already busy schedules? Is it the extra travel time associated with snow with putting on boots, coats, and mitts? Is it all just a clever ruse to distract us from the fact that it's damn cold outside and we might start to question why we live in Canada again? Probably a bit of all three.

I was on "soup and sandwich" counter at work today. It's a different day than usual because instead of pouring coffee and taking orders you make sandwiches all day, and stock up the fridge(?) to make sure you can make those sandwiches in less than a minute as soon as someone orders one. It's a lot of prep work, in between buttering bagels for people. It would go a lot faster if you didn't keep getting interrupted by another bagel or soup here and there. Every time I went to put on a pot of soup or something similar they kept buzzing me back. A bit frustrating, but it went rather well today. Only had to stay 15 minutes later, instead of the usual 1/2 hour when I'm on soup and sandwich.

Enough about work. After work today was really fun. JF was invited by his Dad to play piano for his school's Christmas mass at the Cathedral. (JF's dad is the principal of the local French Catholic elementary school. It's pretty cool.) JF invited me to go watch, so I did. Mass at the cathedral is always fascinating because it's so big and there are always so many people there, but tonight it was even more interesting because the people there were all families of the students from the elementary school. A ton of little kids being cute.

The whole thing was in French, which I don't really understand that well (yet!), but I'm used to going to mass in French so that was no problem. I had to sit by myself though, which sucked. I obviously wasn't there with any kids or anything so I suppose people must have wondered what I was doing there, but more likely I'm being self conscious and they didn't even think about me at all. Either way, I got to watch all the little kids read and sing and play piano and it was really cute. There were a few little girls that were soooo cute I was thinking I want my kid to be like that someday. When I have kids. In 5 or more years. At least. Anyway, they were really adorable. This one little girl reminded me of myself at that age (I think she was 6) and I would gladly have one like her. She was spunky. I used to be spunky. I think I'm a little old for spunky now! Hehe. It was a really fun outing overall.

As far as Christmas shopping goes I'm about halfway. I have something for Jennifer, and I'm almost done for JF, but I still need ideas for the parents. Wish I had enough money to spoil everyone. It makes it harder to buy for people when you have limited funds. There are so many things I'd buy for people if I could afford them! Well, someday. When I'm independently wealthy. That reminds me, I found a $10 bill on the street tonight. I feel like Charlie Bucket. Makes me think I should go buy a lottery ticket or something. On that happy note, I'm off to have some more fun tonight. JF is finished exams and his project...thingy (I pay attention, oops) so he wants to celebrate. I agree! And I only have one more day before 2 weeks off, so I can afford to be a bit tired tomorrow I guess. At least I hope so! Cheers!
