Fridays are when I check one of my older email accounts. I have several of them; one I check several times a day, one a few times a week, and then this last one. Up until a few weeks ago, the only things I expected there were Borders emails. Back when I still worked for the company, my boss forced us all to sign up, since one of our goals was to get as many email sign-ups as possible. No, really. So I'd get coupons I'd never use, and emailed fliers I'd barely read, but once the going-out-of-business sale started, I knew the email end was near. What on earth would I still be getting at this address?
Spam. I'd still get spam.
Here's the thing: For whatever reason, that account has been pretty decent when it comes to spam. As in, I'd rarely get anything in my inbox that wasn't Borders-related (or, once in a blue moon, something from my mother or a friend who still had that account in their address book). So, these past two weeks, I've been surprised to find stuff in my inbox at all; it was simply spam, in addition to whatever hit the spam filters. I'm kind of disappointed, but at the same time I'm amused anything still goes there. It's a nice back-up email in case I need it, and I've had it for at least fifteen years, so I'm loathe to give it up entirely. Still? I'd rather not have the spam. Who would, though.
