Stupid cat.

Second in an apparent series.

You can tell it's spring when the neighborhood cats start coming around. We saw one last week that was gray and white, and for some reason didn't seem like the regular cat that normally haunts our front porch. Funny how we forget--the normal cat is totally different; it's brown and sort of stripe-y. And it's bigger. This kitty has a tag, so we know it belongs to someone. It loves to saunter up our walk and then peer over the side of the porch looking for Chippy. However, it's not terribly subtle, and since it comes around dinnertime I'm usually sitting at the table and can see it and subsequently scare it away. It then leaps off the porch and onto the front lawn, where it eventually comes into our bushes where we can see it from the living room windows. This has happened twice recently. The first time, it stared at me through the window for a good minute before traipsing into the neighbors' yard. Yesterday, though, something caught its attention, and therefore my attention. There was this largish clump of fur in the little clearing between the house and the bushes. Except it wasn't a clump--there were two little feet on one end. Oh. Oh, my. We've had a few rabbits about, but I've yet to see any babies...well, none alive, at least. That was a tad disturbing. I mentioned it was dinner time, right? I thought to check on it today, and the clump of fur appears to have been reduced to a leg. Well, uh, at least nature's taking care of itself so we don't have to.
