Preparing for camp

My room has been pretty bad lately. Part of it is because I've started pulling out the stuff I want to take to camp and putting it in a corner of my room. The thing is, I hadn't begun packing it properly, so I just had piles of stuff on the floor. I finally pulled out my big suitcase and so far I've packed bedding, towels, and throw rugs. Trust me, the floors at camp get nasty, and even though I have my own room I still feel better not stepping directly on the linoleum.

Have I mentioned this already? I bring a crapload of stuff to camp. When I first started setting clothes aside a few weeks ago, I started putting them into a smaller bag that also accompanies me to camp. Some of it fit in there so nicely that I began to wonder, hey, could I actually pare myself down enough to not need to bring the big bag? The answer is no. A former roommate nicknamed me Girl Scout with good reason--I bring pretty much everything one might need for camp. I did stop bringing sweatshirts since all the counselors get one, but pants, multiple shirts, multiple shorts, multiple tank tops--I bring them all. Also office supplies, like pens and tape and glue. My crush bag will be coming along this year as well, which should make it a little easier to carry things around. I love the magic tote bag of fun, but I also like the thought of being able to find something easily since it'll be in a special pocket, not to mention the crush bag has zippers so nothing can fall out. Plus, it has mesh holders for water bottles. I'm hoping my walkie-talkie can fit into one of them, as it will make my life a lot easier.

I am also almost done with my scrapbooks. I have a total of four pages remaining--or, wait, I think I got it down to three. One of them has the counselor picture on it, and I was dumb and didn't put the counselors' names on the back of the pic, so I've been putting it off. Realize that every pic I take basically gets the 5 Ws put on the back, so I don't know exactly how that didn't get done, but I was royally annoyed when I discovered it. The other pages, I had to wait to do them. I put titles on some of the pages--Bonfire, Concert--and these particular pictures were from before the bonfire officially started but I wasn't sure exactly how far before. I wanted to see if I'd labeled any of them pre-bonfire, so to speak, and I had (the pages have not been done in order), so now I just have to decide what I want to call them. One page will probably end up being "Getting Ready for the Bonfire," as that's what I've titled a similar page (whose pictures come before the new page), and the other, well, I have to think about it. But the only other thing I have to do is organize the sheets in the books and that's it! Perfect--just in time for me to come home with another 12 rolls, plus whatever I take on the digital camera. *sigh*

The other thing I'm doing to get ready for camp is to sleep-deprive myself. The most sleep I'll get is six hours a night. I prefer seven. This will never happen, for various reasons. I learned that years ago, and I've also realized that if I prep myself, by the time I get to camp I'm used to it and it's not so bad. I've been forcing myself to stay up until midnight and then get up when my alarm goes off before 6:30, except after yesterday I was so tired I said screw it and stayed in bed until 8. Oh well.
