Cinco de What-o?

First, we officially hit 1,000 applicants today.

Second, we have goslings.
Second point five, one of my coworkers attempted to see if there were any eggs left in the nest--the geese and the three babies had a picnic by the mailbox this morning--and endured the wrath of the birds. I heard the geese honking wildly and then saw them flying very low over the parking lot. I figured somebody had gotten too close, but didn't find out who until lunchtime. When the coworker told me what he did, I laughed and was like, it was YOU!
Second point seven five, I too had a close encounter with the geese. I had to take some mail out to the box, and the stepping stones were within snapping range of the geese's picnic. Seriously, I half expected to see a checkered blanket and a basket over there. I took a longer route, and while the geese lifted their heads all the way up on their necks and kept their eyes on me the whole time, they did not make a sound. This was better than other people, who unknowingly parked near the family and were greeted with a chorus of hissing upon disembarking their cars.
Second point whatever, the goslings are cute. They sort of look like ducklings with their fuzzy yellowish bodies. It's too bad they'll grow into the icky geese that they are, but oh well.

Third, apparently it was family day at Company X. Or we're a great place to bring the kids and have a snack. Not long before I went to lunch, a large group of females came in to fill out applications. Four of them came into the lobby. The fifth, a grandmother, took two kids over to the picnic bench in the meantime; that's where I found them when I went out for lunch. Yes, because doesn't everyone look to bring their kids to a random picnic bench in the middle of an industrial park? Actually, since our street is quiet, it really can be nice, but it's still not the most ideal place for three- and four-year-olds. You know what, though? I didn't mind. I hate it when there's little kids in the lobby when people are trying to fill out apps, because they make noise and they can't sit still and they're distracting and what have you. And I often think, if you're not filling out an app, and you're not helping someone fill out an app, say by translating it, then you don't need to be in the lobby. These people did not need to be in the lobby. And since it was a beautiful day, why not have some crackers and apple juice outside, and look there's a picnic bench...and, when the four ladies finally finished, I realized I much preferred the kids and grandma to the ladies, because they were much louder and more distracting. The kids were pretty quiet. I also figured they'd all pack up and leave once they were done, but no--the ladies actually pulled out a snack of their own and sat and ate at the picnic table for a few minutes. Now *that* was weird. But they weren't there long, and it was toward the end of my break, so it was fine.
