Okay. So I mentioned that this time last year I wanted to go see SNL on my birthday, but the trip got canceled and there wasn't a show.
What a difference a year makes.
So, not only did U2 perform the requisite two songs, they started performing a third ("I Will Follow") during the goodbyes. As in, Luke Wilson and Bono were sitting on the edge of the stage, Luke thanked U2, then Bono got up as the band started performing. Not only was the performance great, Bono then started walking into the audience toward the end of the song...as did The Edge. The place just went mad--not only was the audience freaking out (especially the girl Bono straddled...damn), but the cast and the crew were, too! And, as the credits were rolling and they finished the song, Bono went, "One more!" They started a *fourth* song as the show cut away to commercial.
Hot damn.
Oh...
Why didn't this happen last year? I was so making contingency plans in my head, like I wasn't even going to get a hotel room; I was just going to fly in and out in a day. That so would have been worth it.
