Looking back on the week

I've been busy recently, which is part of why I haven't updated with general news. Let's see what's been happening:

Wednesday: I swear we were transported to Alaska, as the whole day it was dusky outside. I don't recall ever experiencing anything like that. Cloudy all day? Yes. Dark all day? No, unless we had storms. We did not have storms on Wednesday.
Also Wednesday, I noticed my little bird was limping. I figure it's related to the bleeding incident two days earlier. He's been surprisingly chirpy as of late, so I don't think he's feeling too badly, though he's been favoring his right claw ever since. It seems like maybe it's getting better, but we're playing wait-and-see.

Thursday: I finally got my oil changed. I haven't done that since March, no kidding, but I literally just hit 3,000 miles. Seriously, that's how little I drive nowadays. And the little sticker they gave me? It says I can go 5,000 miles until my next change. Are you serious? Dude, it's going to be a year and a half until I go back then!
Since I was out, I stopped by the plaza that has Borders in it. Alas, I didn't see K's car, but I did stop by Cost Plus and I picked up some stuff. I officially started my Christmas shopping and managed to pick up stuff for half of my list. I have no official list this year; it's more of a, hey, that looks good, I'll buy it for so-and-so sort of thing.

Friday: Had to go to Target for a baptismal card; picked up other things as well. Mom had given me a $30 gift card, which I used to buy a cardigan for work. My desk, with its close proximity to the door, gets very chilly. I also picked up some tops and other stuff, but I was disappointed with a particular sweater. I'd seen it in the circular, and in person it was just as cute as its picture, but when I put it on I started itching. Rats--too much wool. And it was only about 16% wool (the cardigan has 7% wool and I'm okay with it), but that was too much. Grr. No cute red sweater for me.

Saturday: Baptism! Two of my friends from college had a second son; I haven't seen them since their first child turned one. He's now four. The husband is a minister. He was ordained earlier this year, but I missed it (it was in the middle of my issues and I wasn't up for it), so I was determined to make it up to Cary for this. The weather did not make it easy. Consider I'd barely gotten out of my subdivision when I came across an accident. Also, I nearly was in one, as there was an ambulance trying to cross a major intersection but I didn't know it was there until I crossed its path. I swear I didn't hear it. Luckily it was stopped and not trying to cross the road, but I still felt bad. I also wondered why it didn't have one of those light-changing gadgets, meaning I would have had to stop and it would have had the right-of-way, but whatever. Not a whole lot of people made it out, but I did get to see another friend from school as she's one of the godparents. The ride home was better, at least, as the farther south I got, the warmer it was. It had started snowing a few hours before I left, then changed to sleet right as I was leaving. My car was covered in ice when I left the church. After about 40-45 minutes on the road, though, I noticed the streets were clean and there wasn't any ice on my windshield--it was warm enough that it was all rain. Awesome. Still, I was relieved when I got home at 8.

Today: Typical Sunday, meaning laundry and grocery shopping. Still, I left the house (and not for work) for the fourth straight day. What a busy bee I am.

This week: Perhaps we'll put up the Christmas tree, and perhaps I'll give K a call. Or perhaps I'll do my Christmas cards. The possibilities are endless and only limited by my laziness. Unfortunately, my laziness knows no bounds.
