Laura and I finally got together to do our birthday/Christmas bash today. With both of us working retail, and her being a manager, there's no possible way to do it for our actual birthdays (November 22 and December 7). We made our annual trek to Dave & Buster's and discovered that not all children went back to school today. For the most part it wasn't too bad, but I think we both expected it to be a little quieter. Some of the games weren't working properly, which cost us some money. There's one, whose name escapes me now, where you're basically trying to push coins off a platform with a claw either before time runs out or you knock over this head on a pole. It's one of our favorites, but the pole would not stand up because of all the coins around it, meaning you couldn't even start the game. It would tremble and try to fall over, then get jerked back upright, then tremble and fall over again. Not good. I thought it needed Viagra or something. Then, on other games, we'd swipe our cards and nothing would happen. On one of the skee ball swipers, you couldn't even get the card in to swipe it, like the whole mechanism was bent. We had fun playing basketball head-to-head, though our last game seemed to go on forever! I think it kept going because we were doing so well--I think the score was 76-69 or so, compared to scores in the 20s and 30s for previous games. Phew. We drove the big rig and discovered why I don't drive trucks in real life (hello, side of road and innocent vehicles). Also, they've rearranged the place a little since we were last there, and I think they took out a few games. Ah well. Overall, I think we had a good time.
It took us a while to decide what to do after that, but we ended up going to the Chili's by her house. I got a burger and Laura got a salad...and was disappointed again (remember: NO MORE SALADS!). She got the queso, which is a chili cheese dip with tortilla chips; she shared with me. Yummy. And I felt like dessert, so I got a sort of brownie sundae with this HUGE scoop of ice cream on top of it, which she shared. Of course, by the end of the night I was getting pretty wacky. Poor Laura had to endure me prattling on about my issue (yes, she knows the whole story, but she's my best friend; besides, I really don't want to post all of it on the internet) all day, and once dessert came I was talking about these two wacky customers I have. They're an older mother/daughter pair, and they're what I fear my mother and I will become if I don't move out eventually. I said something like, okay, I'll move to Valley View (the most affordable area around here) and work at the nearby strip club, but since I'm new and not exactly strip-worthy I'll work the daytime shifts and leave on a one-piece bathing suit or something. The term "training bra" then took on a whole new meaning--imagine a new stripper wearing a garment that read "training" on it. Oh, we dissolved into laughter after that. I sort of wondered if there was coconut in my brownie-thing...or crack. See, the other day at work Pa. mentioned these noodles at one of the places in the mall. Even though he was full, he felt the need to keep eating them, and an hour later he craved them. They were like crack, and he was addicted. Silly crack noodles. He made them sound so good that M got them for lunch that day. (Me? I don't succumb to peer pressure.) Now, after my general wackiness today, I'm wondering if the noodle guy has a relative that works at Chili's. Karyn, you may have to watch out for me if we do get together next week. ;)
