Good news, bad news
Last week we found out that the DM would be visiting our store on Wednesday. Not only is it DC (shipment) day, but it's also my birthday. Oh joy, oh rapture. Ever since I realized he'd be coming on my birthday, I've been lobbying for the DM to bring vanilla cupcakes. Hey, to make my birthday a happy one, either he brings cupcakes or he doesn't come at all.
I got a phone call from work tonight.
The good news: The DM is *not* coming on Wednesday. Phew.
The bad news: He's coming tomorrow instead. Crap.
So, okay, no cupcakes, but at least now I won't be stressing on my birthday. However, now we have to do all the store fixing in a few hours instead of the whole day. We had wanted the store to be perfect and look as close to exactly like the holiday planner pictures as possible. Unless R and K did that today, there's little chance of that happening tomorrow, as it's change-out day. There's already a bunch of stuff we have to do. Ah well. It's not like the store is in horrible shape, but we wanted it better. C'est la vie.
The other concern: My coworkers. I'm old school, in that I always dress a certain way for work. It was ingrained in me many years ago that you don't wear jeans. You just don't. Then, around 2003, the dress code was relaxed. Most of my coworkers will wear jeans and t-shirts/sweatshirts. Most of the time it doesn't look bad, but still. Everyone was warned to look nice for Wednesday. Now we had to call everyone and tell them to dress nicely for tomorrow. Ugh. Well, at least we get it over with a day earlier, and it sounds like it will be a shorter visit than we initially expected (I thought he would stay for several hours/all day Wednesday; the update seems like he'll be store-hopping before the holiday). We'll deal. It'll be fine.
