Changing from front to back, top to bottom

I think I've mentioned that my dad's job changed and he's no longer salaried or working as many hours as he used to. The hours aren't a problem (because who hates going from 55 or 60 hours a week down to 40?), but the money situation has my mother worried...mainly because she's the main spender in the family and basically spent future money (i.e. what she thought she'd have coming, but didn't actually have in her fat little paws at the time) on crap we didn't need. Her last purchase, immediately before we got the news, was a new storm door for the front of the house. It took a few weeks to get it, but it came Wednesday. It's schnazzy. It's black, which is a little jarring right now, but it's all glass from top to bottom. The glass has this pattern on it around the edges. It's quite nice and jazzes up the place a bit. Thankfully...because car insurance is due next month...I think mom's spending sprees have come to an end for the time being. Of course, she leaves for Utah on Thursday, so I won't exactly hold my breath about it.

Behind us, the neighbors got a new roof earlier in the week. I thought that was the extent of their remodeling, so to speak, but then this morning there were more workers back there. Today, the siding got replaced. They went from a yellowish color to brown. My father thinks it's gross and disgusting, but mom and I don't think it's that bad. (Besides, it matches all the dead trees in their yard...)
