The blizzard showed up

Dec 05, 2024 07:34

Yesterday was very windy, to where when people would open the door at my job, it would stay open for a few seconds because gusts would hold it open. Snow was predicted, but whenever people would come in, they'd say there were only a few flakes and otherwise it wasn't doing anything.

I got to leave about 7:30, but BBC had parked behind me and was still there. He was working on a major project for our boss, who needed it for his side hustle at 8:30. Mind you, poor BBC has had to spend copious hours on this thing, to the detriment of his actual job, and it wasn't getting done; he kept running into complications. He's bee so unhappy these last few days. There was much swearing. He was going to go move his car for me but, knowing it needed to get done, I told him just keep working and I did crossword puzzles on my phone.

Finally, 8:30, he's not quite done but he wanted to run over to where my boss was--5 minutes away, at least--and let the people involved know what's going on. He planned to give the project to someone once their meeting was over to make sure it was satisfactory. Anyway, we open the door and--holy crap, it's a blizzard! The snow had started and was blowing around. My drive home was harrowing at times, because the snow swirled like a cloud in front of my headlights and I couldn't see the lanes. It wasn't accumulating, so that part wasn't bad, but man. Winter is here.
