Before my vacation, a client came into work to pick up a project we'd done for him. He had an interesting last name--one that's in my family tree, back through my mother's father's mother's family. Since I was the one that helped him, I asked, by chance did your family come from Nebraska? He said, Nebraska City! I wasn't sure where that was but I told him my family, which has his name in it from a few generations back, was from up near Sioux City. He thought that was close by (note: it's the opposite end of the state, though still along the eastern border) and we wondered if we were related. He had a relative, a cousin maybe, who is big into genealogy, so I gave the guy my business card and said that I'm on a couple of the websites in case his relative comes across my name. That would be pretty funny if I randomly met, say, a 5th cousin that way.
Related, I think I may have mentioned that we fiddled with things on our Ancestry account. I now have access to it again. I haven't done much with it in the meantime but it's nice to know I can get into it once more. It was very frustrating to not have that because prior to getting temporarily locked out, I used to go there every week or two. To go months without keeping up with things was pretty frustrating.
