I spent today trying to get through some tasks that just needed to happen and be gotten out of the way. One of those was music-related. Once I have a concert, I notate my music that I've performed it, I update my spreadsheet with that info as well, and then I move the music elsewhere. For Regular Band, I have a place in my big binder where I keep it until the summer season is over, since we'll go back and play some of it again during that season. For Fancy Band, I have a file folder of sorts where I store it until the end of our season. Once those seasons are over, they get permanently filed in storage binders. Given that I had two concerts last week, that was two sets of music to go through. And then I finally went through Carmina, which is 18 pages of fun. I mark all the pages so I know they're my parts; I write on them the title and the page number--VERY important for such a long piece; and then I tape it together in a way that makes sense. Leaving 18 pages completely loose would be asinine, though completely taping everything together wasn't going to work, so I ended up with five groupings and they are labeled as such (I, II, III, IV, V), including with titles on the fronts so I know which movements are in that grouping. It was quite the undertaking. That was probably a couple hours of my day.
I also ended up running an update on the iPad today, which I'd discovered the other day. Lo and behold, two things that have been irksome got fixed.
--Duolingo has been advertising that it has a music module but I had never seen it. As soon as I ran the update? Welcome to music! You betcha I'm doing that module! I was super curious as to what it would be like. Basically, it's a piano playing app. At least, that's what it is so far. You're reading music but you're playing a touchscreen piano in the process. My only place that needs work so far is my timing. I'm coming in early or I'm not holding the keys down long enough. Otherwise, I'm doing pretty well.
--Another app/site I use has not had full functionality for a few weeks. It's an app where I visit its website to use it for one account, but the app for another. The website stopped cooperating, which was frustrating, so I *had* to use the app for a few things. Post-update? It's back to how it was, phew. I was kind of annoyed, to be honest, and it hadn't occurred to me that I needed to run an update. You'd think Apple would give me an obvious notification but it didn't; I think I went into my system preferences for something else and the update decided to show itself. Okay, something to remember for next time.
As with other updates, like with my phone, several random new apps appeared. I don't know that I'll use them but I haven't deleted them yet. I pretty much always delete the ones that show up on my phone since they're usually games and I refuse to have those. The one that intrigues me is Freeform, which looks to be a vision board sort of thing. There's a weather app, which could be useful. And there's Health, which I don't know how that will work. I don't use an Apple Watch so I don't have anything directly tracking my vital signs or anything. It's also mildly creepy, to be honest, but there are a couple of things that could be useful which is why I haven't deleted it. That's something to think on whenever I have time. ...Which is like never. Or else I only think of it when I'm not in a position to do anything about it, and by the time I get home every useful thought has left my brain and I'm a potato. Very useful. Hmph.
