I am Kenough, even if I'm Just an Oscar Nominee
I watched the Oscars last night. It's not typically my M.O., but it kept me company while editing the Fancy Band program and then writing up my Fancy Band post. Also, there was confusion as to why the first few minutes were full of commercials; I honestly wondered if I had the wrong channel. Jimmy Kimmel even alluded to it by saying, we're already five minutes behind, once the show actually started.
I was watching for one reason: To see Ryan Gosling perform "I'm Just Ken" from the Barbie movie. Just the mere fact that the song was nominated was incredible; that it was sung by someone who is known to sing but not known as a singer is really amusing. I had a feeling the performance would be epic; I was not let down. Sixty-five dancing Kens. Slash. Wolfgang Van Halen. Billie Eilish in the background at the start trying not to lose it. Definitely worth watching. The song didn't win, Billie's did, but two Oscar nominees came from that movie, the only recent movie I've watched in a while. Thank you, Ryan and your producers. That was more than Kenough.
