Earlier this week, Puffy and BBC came up to get coffee and water and they brought me a project at the same time. Something related to it prompted Puffy to refer to it as the "star-spangled banner," which then caused me to start singing a bit of the song, and after a couple lines I then turned my attention to BBC, who'd come by my workstation, and I started saying something to him--but while still singing the song. As in, my words became new lyrics to the music. This lasted for the first two verses.
They were in awe, a little impressed, a little scared.
BBC just sort of looked at me, but Puffy was like, OMG, you have a great voice! You should sing more often! Funny; when something happens, like a particular song comes on the radio that causes me to start singing, the guys back in the office area seem more annoyed than impressed. I try to keep my vocalisations to a minimum because of that. I know I can carry a tune, but am I the world's greatest singer? No. I do it for fun. And, occasionally, to annoy my coworkers. So it was nice to hear that from someone. Also, it was really funny to actually fit what I was saying into the song as alternate lyrics. Lin-Manuel, watch out.
