Taking the plunge at work

Apr 04, 2023 07:23

I'm off the clock last night. I'm hanging out in the back building before band. It's about time for me to leave, so I head to the bathroom to freshen up. Not unsurprisingly, I use the toilet...and it promptly does not flush properly. There had been a wad of toilet paper in the drain so I kind of wasn't surprised, yet to leave things in the bowl is not my style, especially since I was not alone.

I had to go out to BBC and go, uh, I have a problem...Noticing my sheepishness, he pointed out this really old plunger with a very long handle--we're talking several feet long--but a busted plunger end. It was split in half. Uh, is this even going to work? I attempted to plunge for a minute and at that point the water had gone down a bit, to about the normal level in the bowl, so BBC suggested I flush. It worked fine. Phew.

At that point, I had to vent a little. This is now the third time one of the work toilets has malfunctioned on me. Can it happen to somebody else at some point? Please? At least this time it was contained to the bowl and the floor drain didn't back up on me. That's the worst.
