My dad just got home. Over the weekend, he worked on his taxes, but in the process he messed up the internet connection. For the past few days we've had issues in getting online. He came upstairs to see if I had gotten on (yes, as I've been working on stuff for over an hour), and I told him mom had gotten on, too. He went to check his mail. He's still using AOL, and upon glancing at the front page made a weird noise and yelled upstairs, "Barry Manilow died!"
"What?!" mom yelled back in disbelief.
"Barry Manilow died! It's on AOL!"
Sleuth that I am, I figured this was breaking news involving a horrible plastic surgery accident, so I went to Yahoo! to see what they said. Nothing. But I can still buy tickets to any of his shows. Now with the chorus to "Copacabana" in my head, I went to AOL to see what it was saying. And, realize, I had to click on "entertainment" to find this:
"Barry Manilow Does the 1950s
Pop Powerhouse Covers Elvis, Dinah, Everly Bros, More: A Very Barry Tribute"
Um, dad...care to put on your glasses and actually read what it says? Whoops. But mom was very relieved to hear that Barry is still alive..."He's supposed to be on Regis next week."
