Lots of love

Last week, when I got to work, my boss asked if we might do him a favor. His wife had an idea to make Valentine's Day cards for seniors, and if he went and bought some, would we sign them? Sure, of course, we said.

I then walked over to his desk and went, what the hell happened here?! Understand that he's the type of person whose desk is always buried under several inches of paper. I saw his desk. I've worked there for 8 years and I don't think I've ever seen his physical desk.
...I then said, I just doubled the amount of Valentines I'm doing, didn't I?

(I'd seen him cleaning off his desk the day before, too. He came across a piece of paper with several websites on it and couldn't recall where they'd come from and asked me to look them up. They were basically QAnon-type sites, and, like, I think one of them led to the Dark Web. It was kind of freaky. When I relayed that info to my boss, he immediately knew where the paper came from--one of our room renters. He's the guy who didn't want to wear a mask at first, so not a surprise. I said, well, if the feds show up one day, you'll know why.)

Anyway. Today was the day my boss went to look for cards. His local pharmacy didn't have bulk V-Day cards, but had blank notecards with hearts all over them. He also handed me a red Sharpie and a package of stickers and said to decorate them. So I did. I wrote, "Happy Valentine's Day! Lots of Love," and signed my name. There were several separate sheets of stickers, so I used those to decorate the insides and to seal the envelopes, which I didn't lick. There were two 20-count packages; I did half and YC did the rest. My boss also requested two cards to go to people he knows--one for his mom's friend and neighbor, and the other for his brother where all of us can sign it. Everyone there at the time already signed, including his mom who'd popped by; I'll catch the rest of them tomorrow. My boss thinks he might just hand him the card, rather than mail it, because sending it through the mail might not be a big deal to the brother at this time. I don't know how much he's aware of, but I'm sure he'd appreciate physically getting it.

work, cards, valentine's day, holiday
