My dad had ordered a weather station back in April; it finally arrived yesterday, just in time for a hot day. We got to see that it'll go into the triple digits, no problem. Today, with the remnants of Tropical Storm Christobal coming through, we got to see that yes, it is collecting rainfall. Unlike our old weather station, it gives a digital readout of precipitation; the old one had a sort of graph. The only issue was in where to put it. We'd had the old one's receiver on the kitchen windowsill, but dad no longer wants anything there, plus we now have the blinds which kind of prevents anything from staying there permanently. Dad ended up putting it on the counter next to our Keurig, which sits atop a flat K-cup holder. Very exciting.
Meanwhile, I wasn't able to leave work before the rains came, and naturally just as I was leaving a really heavy band came through--as in, my boss' cousin actually thought there was hail, but it was just the sort of rain that makes you think you're going through a car wash. It was mildly flooded when I went to get to my car, but not deep enough that I couldn't drive through it, at least. Funny how we had the wettest May on record, but we actually haven't had much rain recently, and the ground was dried and cracked in places. Christobal was useful in that regard, even if the winds did damage in some places.
