What I did on my summer vacation, part 2

Aug 05, 2018 20:22

I'd had all sorts of plans in my head about what to do with my time off. Naturally, a lot of it didn't pan out. :P However, I made a list, and aside from one thing that isn't pressing time-wise, I was able to get stuff done. If I neglected to put it on the list, that's why it didn't happen--I didn't have the physical reminder. And, well, I went through a few things (which should've happened sooner...but I didn't put it on the list) and came up with another thing to do, so that only just got added to the list today...not gonna happen. But that's okay.

I've talked about some of this stuff already, but it's on the list so I'll mention it again.
--Fix pants (yay for pants with hems that no longer fall)
--Wash sheep sweater (I needed to wash both of my winter sweaters...the lighter one got done earlier in the week; the heavier one, AKA "the sheep," got done today and likely won't dry before Wednesday, but oh well)
--Fix zippers: Work bag, wallet (these happened today--the pocket where I keep my keys in my work bag, the zipper has been coming off for ages. Like, the little teeth are coming apart from the fabric, making it hard to zip open or closed. I was able to reattach the teeth and the zipper now works fine. For my wallet, I discovered the zipper doesn't line up properly for the coin area, so that if you open it all the way, the zipper pull comes off and you can't keep your change in there. I put thread on it just before the end, which stops the pull from going all the way back and therefore keeps the pull on the zipper)
--Bathroom (cleaned earlier this week)
--Shredding (happened on Monday, I think--just finally going through my pile of stuff needing to be shredded)
--Weeding (I meant to do this for an hour each day, minus maybe band days, but only did it on Friday, but for almost two hours. Why did I skip the band days? In case I did something to my fingers, which did happen--I got blisters from my gloves, but they're healing)
--Haircut (this was yesterday...tomorrow will be the real test of how it turned out)
--Stamps (bought Wednesday)
--Office Max (went Wednesday)
--Car email! (literally just did, heh...related to the accident; I just read last week some of the stuff the insurance company sent and realized, oh crap, I think they might need more info from me)
--Counselor pic email (I finally heard from the camp dad who took pictures in 2013 and 2014, got the counselor pictures from that year, and sent copies off to the recent counselors who were there those years)

What didn't I do? Go look at the bulldogs. Back in 2011--conveniently the last time I didn't go to camp--we had something in town called Bulldogs Unleashed, our version of the Chicago cows from back in the day. I'd gone around and gotten pictures of all of them, and now that we have a fresh set of them, I would like to check those out, too. One very slow evening at work, I even made myself a list of them and where to find them, since the website doesn't have such a thing, and I meant to get out in the fresh air and walk around. Didn't happen. Oh well. The good news is that they're around for a while, so I have a few weekends left to explore.

The last note, added today when I found it with other stuff, was to check on any old savings bonds. Some of them might be old enough that they've come to fruition...and then gotten turned over to the state. Hmm. But I'll save that for later.
