We are on our third straight day of record-breaking temperatures. Friday, it was 67F; Saturday, it was 70F; today, I know we broke 65F, which was the old record, but I'm not sure if we've reached the high for today. This is so bizarre. To wit: The tree behind us is already budding and sprouting. Do I count this as Green Day? It's not the only tree in this position, either, just the easiest to spot. This is, bare minimum, a month early. Mind you, two Februarys ago, we barely got above freezing the entire month.
The house has been pretty dirty for a while, so I took advantage of the nice day by opening the windows and doing some cleaning. My bathroom got cleaned, and the kitchen floor did as well. Mom gave dad our old mop so he could clean up the basement, so I had to use her new Joy mop. She had been running errands while I did this, and came home and asked, did you figure out how to use it? I replied, it's a mop, which caused dad to laugh. Like, you dip it in water and rub it on the floor. It's not that hard. What she meant was that the handle seemed loose--it's got sort of a long cover to it--and did I figure that out? Yes, I did--I'm guessing it's like that so that if you're a tall person, you can actually adjust the length of the mop to your proper height. It took me a bit of time to figure that out though, and it really bothered me, but then I noticed there was a lock on the handle, closed it, and all was better. Phew. Still kinda weird, though.
Grandma called this morning. Mom had said that last week, her arm came out of the sling; it still hurts, but she can use her right hand properly again. She also has her boot off and instead has a soft cast on her left ankle, and she can wear her regular shoes with it. However, according to grandma, they are looking to release her on Saturday. We're all sort of like, already? It seems like grandma likes it there, and obviously it's easier for her since she doesn't have to worry about stuff, but I don't know that she would want to live in a retirement place. However, if she doesn't have a car, she cannot live on her own. I personally don't want her to have a car, given what we learned about the accident, but I don't know how she'd feel about not having her own place like she does. We have a few days, and mom should really talk to her younger brother. Ideally, I'd love to see grandma out here somewhere, since the good children live out west. Elgin is halfway between us and my uncle's house and it would be easier for all of us to see her. How to plant that bug in her ear...
