It's the end of the word as we know it...let's get bread

Our normal Saturday night shopping trip turned into something more interesting tonight. Not only is tomorrow the Super Bowl, so people are prepping for parties and what have you, but we're also under a severe storm warning, where in the next couple days we're due to get over a foot of snow. Holy crap the lines were long. Like, we pulled into the lot, and it was pretty full; as soon as we walked in the doors, we could see nearly all the checkout lines were going, even the self-check ones, and the lines were back into the individual aisles. You never see that. Even for a holiday, they may only reach the cross aisle.

Our grocery store has a bunch of checkout lanes at the front of the store, then a cross aisle before you get to the personal items aisles--your shampoos, cold medicines, bug sprays, that sort of thing. These aren't short aisles, but they're maybe a half to two-thirds the length of the food aisles, which are across another cross aisle--basically the spine of the store. Roughly halfway through our shopping trip, the lines for check-out were backed up all the way to the second cross aisle. We're talking probably 10 people in line, in every line, up and down all the personal care aisles.

At that point dad and I are like, yeah, we can take our time. I joked that I'd sort through my coupons, which I haven't been able to do in the past couple weeks. We still got through our shopping in our normal timeframe, and the lines were slightly shorter by the time we were ready to check out, but we were still three or four carts back and into the personal care aisles. It took us 15 minutes to get through the line. By that time, there were four or five people behind us. Pretty amazing.

The storm was to start essentially while we were gone, but when we left the store, it simply appeared foggy. However, as we walked out into it, it was definitely a misty fog, to the point where windshield wipers were necessary for driving. It got a little more solid by the time we got home, but as of right now there isn't much going on. Scratch that, I just looked at my car and there's a thin layer of white on it. Well, at least we're set for tomorrow. We and approximately half the area, it seems.
