It's been a long couple of days--the wake was yesterday and the funeral was today--but I have a funny story that's unrelated to either that'll be good to mention.
The funeral luncheon was held at the White Eagle in Niles. It has a smaller parking lot off the entrance, and a large one in the back. Believe me, they needed that today. We ended up parking in the back, aaaaaall the way in the back, where there are two 4- or 5-story condo buildings overlooking the lot.
As we're walking to the car, one of my parents notices some guy out on his balcony, grilling. He is not wearing any pants. Like, he is out there grilling in his underwear. We're all like, is he really in his undies? Are we sure that's not a Speedo? Meanwhile, a couple floors lower and over one set of condos is this little dog, barking at us; I chose to focus on that. This was probably a good thing, because it meant the guy could hear us and know we could see him; the next time I looked over--and by then I was in the car--he'd gone inside. Hopefully to put some pants on.
We're not entirely sure why he'd think it was okay to not wear pants when his balcony overlooks a busy banquet hall on a Saturday afternoon, but it amused us greatly and we laughed about it the whole ride home. And after a sad couple of days, we needed that.
