My dad made the most of yesterday, cleaning up bits of the yard while the weather was good. The main thing he did was trim the tree by the front door. Apparently my parents got it for $5 soon after we moved in; we've gotten our $5 out of it, definitely. It's about as tall as the roof, and that's with him having trimmed it down several years back. He bought a 10' ladder earlier this year and used that to get up high; he was able to reach most of the tree on it. Only the top isn't quite as nice as it could be, but the rest got trimmed to a pleasant shape which, possibly owing to my being at a festival yesterday, reminds me of a corn dog. Dad agreed once he stepped back to look at it. I have to say that it is nice not to worry about getting smacked in the face by a branch when I leave in the morning now, but at the same time it doesn't provide the sort of privacy it used to. I know any visitors we'll have will appreciate having more room to get up on the porch. It actually makes the front of the house look brighter since you can see more of it. I almost thought the door area had been painted. That's kind of amazing.
