Whether When redux

Ninth in a series!
(And this is despite me writing that last year's was the ninth one...I can't count, apparently.)

I wasn't kidding about my regularly-scheduled post. Every time I've posted on Valentine's Day, I've posted a song or poem I've written. This year will be no different, except I'm posting a revised version of last year's entry. That was something I'd written while taking composing lessons, and it was always meant to be fleshed out. So, in the past year, I did it. I still have to set it to music, so it's not entirely complete, but I like the lyrics and how I organized the stanzas. There are six now, with four being new. The two original ones were put where they are because of how they relate to the original version of the song--the original first stanza didn't move, and the original second became the fourth because I have a transition and a key change already built into the song and it didn't make sense for me to change it.

And, yeah, it's still kinda cheesy. But I like it. Besides, choral music has a definite cheese factor to it a lot of the time.

Whether When
Whether when the wind blows
Or when rain may fall
I will always love you
Through the strongest squall

Whether when it's ice cold
Or when baked from heat
My love doesn't temper
Though my heart skips a beat

Whether when the earth's dry
Or when waters flood
My love keeps on growing
Just like spring's newborn bud

Whether when the sun shines
Or when clouds blow past
My love will grow deeper
Beneath the shadows cast

Whether when it's peaceful
Or when skies may hail
The love I feel for you
I know will never fail

Whether when the snow drifts
Or when skies are clear
I know where my heart lies
It's you I hold most dear

poetry, composing, valentine's day, songs, holiday
