[A couple of weeks ago, Rose sent out invitations inviting people to Christmas at the flat she shares with the Doctors. Since then, she's been running around like a headless chicken for many reasons, the party only being one ( Read more... )

[During Dinner]

[Dinner is up on the rooftop which was the reason the invitation specified bringing blankets and pillows. There's a sort of very high tent up there and beneath it is a low, long coffee table sort of thing. There are big pillows surrounding it. Did anyone really think the Doctor and Rose could have a normal table and a normal dinner? There's no real telling what the Doctor has cooked but he's a fairly good one. Christmas lights have been strung up along the sides and top of the tent. Heaters that have been Doctor-tweaked are scattered along the sides of the tent to keep it from getting too cold. Small candles are set up on the table as well as plates and flatware.]

[ The Doctor is enjoying the set-up, lounging comfortably alongside the table. ]

Romans used to eat like this. Thought it helped their digestion.

[That gets a big grin out of Rose.]

S'what he--y'said when I suggested eatin' this way. The bit 'bout the Romans. Not the digestion. I don't think anyhow. [She likes when they say things that utterly drive home the point that they're the same person.]

[ Donna's hung up on that digestion detail... ]

Oi, how's that? [ Hang on, let her swallow so she's not talking with her mouth full... ] I mean, what makes a person think: "Oh, well darling let's eat outside! Sure, it'll help the children with that pesky lactose intolerance!"

[Cinna arrives promptly, one bag slung over his shoulder and a box in his arms, all filled with bottles of wine or sodas, a few mixes and odds and ends for the party. He's near the kitchen, setting things out and acting as a bartender when asked. In the meantime, he's smiling, glad to be with friends, new and older. Still, he can't help but wish Peeta, Katniss, Finnick and Rue were here to see it all.]

[Rose answers the door with a big smile, reaching to take the box from Cinna.]

Come on inside. M'glad you made it.

You know I wouldn't miss it.

[He leans over to give the hostess a kiss on the cheek.]

Everything smells wonderful, where do you want me to set all of this up?

[She tilts her cheek up so that he can kiss it easier. He'll get a hug once they've put everything down.]

Thank you. Can't take credit for it but it does smell great. [She thinks about that a moment.] Think we can set 'em over here on the counter. Thanks for bringin' drinks. [She carries the box over to the sort of bar type counter overlooking the living room.]

[Janine got there early, landing on the roof with a distinct running thump. She was carrying a sailfish almost as long as her six-foot beak, radiating faint smugness. It had leaped and she'd snatched it right out of the air, which had been kind of tricky. She'd managed to kill it and drain most of the blood, then rinse in seawater, but it still dripped onto the roof. She dripped seawater with it.]

[Her shoulders are just too big to let her through a door of standard width, so she'll have to stay on the roof.]

[Rose hears the thump on the roof (top floor has it's advantages?) and heads up with a good idea of who and what it was anyway. When she sees Janine she smiles brightly. Okay, the fish is a little odd...or maybe not. In any case, Rose is happy to see her.]

Guess you brought your own dinner. M'glad you could come.

I threatened to, and no one stopped me. Too late now!

...Hacking it apart might get messy, though. [Will be messy.]

S'probably the easiest way. [She winces a bit at that.]

What needs to be done to it?

[ It's the second time in less than a week that Rose has gotten the Doctor out of his leather jacket, but the Doctor thinks -- although he might not mention this -- that he prefers this time. He's not so sure he makes a great Father Christmas, but he's stuffed a pillow under the red coat and he's wearing an incredibly awful false beard and attempting jolliness. ]

[ If anyone comes over to say hi, small person or not, he may even give a little gift from that sack at his feet. ]

[Rose hadn't expect him to dress up like Santa when she'd asked so this is a very pleasant surprise. She hangs back for a moment before going up to brush her hands across the Doctor's shoulders and beam at him.]

Y'make a brilliant Father Christmas.

It's been a long time since I wore velvet. [ And hadn't that been an incarnation? He'd have been a better Santa, probably, but this Doctor is trying. ]

I don't know about brilliant. Maybe I can fool some small children.

Still like the way it feels though. [She reaches out to run her hand over his shoulders. She appreciates the trying so very much.]

Even if y'don't...ought to have a Father Christmas at Christmas time, y'know? Makes everythin' more festive.

[ Amy and Rory have claimed the over sized chair, with Amy settled on Rory's lap. She wanted to be fashionably late for this party, but Rory said to be punctual and here they are.

They'll mingle, later on, but for now, sitting there with a glass of wine is enough. ]

[Between helping the Doctor out and running back between the flat and the roof, Rose stops to say hi to Rory and Amy.]

Merry Christmas. Glad you could both make it. Havin' a good one so far?

Heya.

[ Considering where she is and how hesitant she was about going, Amy is pretty relaxed. She's here now, after all, might as well make the best of it. ] Yeah. 's nice, with the decorations and all.

[ Gesturing at the Christmas tree in particular with a grin. ]

[It's an attempt so Rose will take it in good faith. Besides, it's Christmas and shaping up to be a brilliant one. She's not going to ruin that. Rose glances at the tree and laughs a bit.]

The one in the kitchen helped me decorate it then the one in the Santa suit [She still can't believe she convinced him to put on the Santa suit] helped me with the tinsel.

[Which is why the tree looks like it threw up Christmas. It's fantastic.]
