Anything about this here Doctor is most welcome. :D Comments screened etc etc etc.
Caesares is an opinionated creature, as he's a full on Spanish Civil War communist, an intelligent doctor, and has had to cover it up far too much before. So some notes on this are probably required.
- Firstly, his IC opinions have nothing to do, and will never have anything to do, with my actual OOC opinions. I do my best to maintain a strict IC/OOC divide, and anything my characters say IC is in no way directed at a particular player, or an OOC opinion on a character.
- Secondly, if Caesares engages your character in an argument - it will be for IC reasons. I can only promise that it has no OOC motivation, and if he argues, it is because he would want to.
- Thirdly, I am aware that not everyone enjoys RPing arguments as much as I do. As discussion, and thus argument, even in RP, is an organic process and it cannot be guaranteed that characters will not disagree, I don't find it feasible to ask the simple question 'Do you want to RP arguments or not?' a la a permissions post, although the idea has been considered. That doesn't mean I'm forcing anyone into doing anything they don't want to. I intend to try and reach an acceptable point for all by doing the following:
1) If you wish to opt out of philosophical argument (that is, none that really involves in game events: about communism, fascism, war etc), that's just fine. Leave me a message here or come talk to me on IM. I'll make a note and have him keep his distance.
2) Arguments to do with IC actions (Caesares has issues with your actions, you've hurt/wronged Jim or his friends etc) are less avoidable. So please use this post (or IM) to leave me a message if you want to assume the rest of the argument, or something similar (IC flounces can be arranged). Basically, if you don't want to go through the whole thing, come talk to me/leave me a message and we can work out what was said and what it all meant. I'm perfectly happy with doing this, as much as I do prefer to play them, I understand that other people don't. So come talk to me 'bout it! I'm reasonable and won't say no.
3) If you'd like some forewarning as to Caesares wanting to argue a particular point or issue, leave me a message here. I can send you an IM or PM if he intends to try and provoke an argument, or intends to argue the point. I'm absolutely happy to do this and accommodate people as much as I can.
tl;dr: I can't stop, and don't want to stop, Caesares being Caesares. That would defy the point of playing him. But I can understand other people not wanting to play out arguments or discussions like I do - so come talk to me or leave me a message here, and something can be worked out.
