So, uh, if any of you is into slightly less than canon RPGs,
bnf_brawl? In which characters from different fandoms compete to become the biggest BNF by writing fanfic about each other. :D There should be more Naruto in this RPG! Especially some of the Sand kids, Kiba, or Hinata. I kind of want to play Temari, but I want someone else to play her more. I'd probably do better as someone like Kabuto, because I'm not very good at being abrasive. Intentionally, I mean.
Some of my favourite bits so far:
•
On Ichimaru Gin's post, Inui defends himself against accusations of Kaidoh's picture being his desktop: Currently, it is a picture of a kitten 'hanging in there'. :D
• Hermione in general. But mostly
the way she acts when she meets James Potter and the thread where she
gets kinda on Fuji's bad side.
•
This definition of a date, and the fact that Inui agrees. :D
• Ryoma v. Shinji, the online version:
I've beaten you in tennis already, and it looks like I'm going to beat you in fandom too.

I've been reading Hana Kimi and Mars lately, and the common theme in my reactions is: I like the best friend (Nakatsu, Tatsuya, Harumi) who also crushes on the lead, more than I like the lead. They are so adorable! I know there's absolutely no chance that they will get what they want (the characters I want the girl to go for always end up being the ones she drops), but I'm still on their side 99%.
I actually quite like the Main Shoujo Relationship in Mars, though--at least through the first four or five volumes. They didn't spend aeons denying that they had feelings for one another, and they've actually been pretty good for each other so far. I like both characters on their own merits, even if I don't like them quite so much as I like their friends. They're both kind of scary & self-destructive at times, but it's the sort of stuff we pretty much all did when we were teenagers and probably still do, not the sort of stuff that makes you wonder how they managed to get through junior high alive. The way the author paired up the two pining best friends didn't offend me, either--it was kind of cute, especially since they haven't immediately given up their previous love. :) I like it a lot more than I thought I would.
As for Hana Kimi--um. I'm not quite understanding why Sano says nothing to her. I get why she says nothing. She doesn't want him to find out that she's not a boy and risk having to leave the school. But he knows already, and he likes her, and it's not like he'd be afraid that he'd report her if she rejected him. I think he even knows that she likes him. Why doesn't he at least say he likes her, even if he has to add "But I want to concentrate on my high jump for now"?
I like their relationship as friends, and would happily read shoujo friendship manga (especially if they all acted like Nakatsu!) with moments of blushy attracted embarrassment, but they need to stop with the moping and angsting immediately.

I am moving house tomorrow! I think! Assuming I got the place! Our lease here runs out in about a week (and we'll have to be out early in order to clean up to get the deposit back), so I hope this new house is lined up. I love this place I have now, but we all feel that it's definitely time for a change. I wonder what I'll do when I'm paying a mortgage and I get the urge to move somewhere else. The woman I'll be living with seems to be much quieter than my current housemates, so I'll probably get less socialising done at home. I wonder if this means that I'll want to see my friends more than once a week now. :D
Also, I got my hair cut again, but shorter. Much of it no longer feels the need to obey the laws of gravity. It's not an afro or anything, because my hair is straighter than straight and apparently "fine"--it just won't sit down. This makes me look very silly, as my head is big enough already (I shouldn't have photographs taken head-on: it looks like someone photoshopped in a face, but forgot to adjust the size or colour), but on the plus side, I look at least an inch taller. I will only need to find eleven-inch platform boots in order to hit my ideal height now.

lesstraveled, I meant to put this in my last entry, but: despite the evil manipulations of our mail deliverers*, I got your package! And it is awesome. <33 Hershey's is kind of great when you have no chance to eat it for most of the year. (Note: I am not trying to engage in lowbrowmanship here; I really do like Hershey's.) AND ALSO. Whatever those kiwi things were, with the suspended pips! Those were totally great. I am baffled by the pocky, though; is there actually chocolate mousse in Japan? Do they put fruit in it? :D
*Whatever they marked on the card, they did not "try to deliver this package" at 2pm. My housemate was sitting on the front porch in full view of the delivery guy when he leapt out of his van to stick that in our mailbox without even looking towards the door. At 2:30. And, wonder of wonders, it was already in the post office mere minutes later when I got down there, and who knows how long it had been there. Are they actually paid to do that?

Interest meme: Reply to this entry with your name and post these instructions in your own journal*. I will go poke around your list of interests on your profile and ask you one question about one of them. You wax rhapsodic on the subject of your interest for the edification of all and we'll learn something keen about you.
Or in simple terms:
Reply to this meme, I'll pick one of your interests, and you tell me a whole bunch of stuff about it and we all learn a bit more.
*Or, you know, don't. It's the "meme" part of memes that always gets me. But surely you want to know about people's interests, too.
