I should have been in bed a half-hour ago. No, that's not my comment.
You've heard the old saw that each year of a dog's life is about 7 in human years. Well, maybe on average. But have you ever heard of a seven year-old having a baby? Yet dogs whelp puppies at one year of age.
So I've known for a while that the 7:1 ratio was ... flawed, but I never bothered to figure out what Lorraine's actual age would be, were she human.
Found this site, and since we guesstimate she was born sometime in mid-September to mid-October of 2006, she would be about 24 years old now, in human. Heh. But since she was a mere pup when she whelped her litter, she was a tweenage mom. If I calculated everything correctly, she was probably the equivalent of 11-12 years old when she got pregnant. That would be about 6-ish months, which is about the time that a dog goes into heat for the first time.
That just blows my mind. No wonder she was not the best puppy parent.
